Stocking Your Home Bar

LIQUOR

A good basic liquor supply should include:

  • 2 Liters Korski Vodka
  • 1 Liter Lady Bligh Spiced Rum
  • 1 Liter Paramount Gin
  • 1 Liter Canadian Bay
  • 1 Liter Blended Whiskey
  • 1 Liter Scotch
  • 1 Liter Paramount White Rum
  • 1 Liter La Prima Tequila
  • 1 Liter Paramount Peach Schnapps
  • 1 750 Ml Meier's Dry Vermouth
  • 1 750 Ml Meier's Sweet Vermouth

5 Assorted Liqueurs (Paramount Amaretto, Paramount
Creme de Menthe, Paramount Flavored Schnapps, etc.)

GLASSWARE

The right glass can definitely make a drink more pleasurable, but you needn't own a special glass for each drink you mix. Two basic shapes are adaptable for most drinks: on-the-rocks with or without a short stem, it has become the all-purpose drink glass; and the tulip-shaped wine glass holding 8 to 11 ounces, it can even be used for water at the dining table. Eventually, you may want to supplement your glassware to include sours, steins, tulip or saucer champagne glasses (also good for serving desserts.)

EQUIPMENT

Some other items you'll need to outfit your bar include: a bottle opener, a corkscrew, ice tongs, bar strainer, 1 1/2 oz. jigger, a stainless steel knife, an ice bucket, serving tray, stirrers, coasters and napkins.

Party Planning

At most every social affair, some liquor is served. Whether it is strictly a champagne brunch, a sit-down dinner preceded by a cocktail hour, or a complete evening of cocktails, dinner with wine, followed by dancing with an open bar, the following guide will help you plan your liquor needs.

LIQUOR

A good rule of thumb is that most people will consume 1 or 2 drinks before dinner and another 1 after dinner, depending on how long they remain after the table is cleared.

Another easy way to estimate is approximately 8 people per bottle or about 100 people per case of liquor.

For 150 people, a good selection of liquor would be:

  • 7 Liters Paramount or Korski Vodka
  • 1 Liter Paramount Gin
  • 2 Liters Whiskey (Can be split between Canadian and Blended)
  • 1 Liter Scotch
  • 2 Liters Paramount White Rum
  • 3 Liters Lady Bligh Spiced Rum
  • 1 Liter LaPrima Tequila

Depending on your guests' preferences, you may wish to order more Scotch or Gin and less Whiskey.

CHAMPAGNES AND WINES

Red and white table wines, including champagne, are usually poured in 5 ounce portions. Count on 1 or 2 glasses per person with dinner. A bottle will give you approximately 5 glasses of wine.

Remember, this is just for wine with dinner. If wine is served before or after dinner as cocktails, use the same guide.
